Counselling Process

During your first session, your counsellor will take the time to get to know you, understand your concerns, and discuss your goals for therapy. This initial session is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions and decide if you feel comfortable continuing with the counsellor.

Each session typically lasts 50 minutes. Some types of therapy or specific circumstances may require longer sessions, such as couples therapy or group therapy which can be discussed with your counsellor.

The number of sessions varies depending on individual needs and goals. Some clients find a few sessions sufficient, while others benefit from longer-term support. Your counsellor will work with you to develop a personalised plan. Some of our funding has a set number of sessions, you will be informed of this before your sessions start.

Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of our counselling services. Everything you discuss with your counsellor is kept confidential, with a few legal exceptions such as risk of harm to yourself or others. Your counsellor will explain these exceptions during your first session. And it will be in the counselling contract you sign, before you start therapy.
